 Hey, y'all, I hope you're doing well.

I'm feeling sort of low. Does anyone have a cheerful story to share? If so, I'd love to hear it!

I have a fun anecdote! This morning I was supposed to check in with the CPAP clinic, but they didn't call me. I was confused...I clicked through the appointment notification on my phone again and it definitely said I had an appointment at 8:00 and to call if I had any problems. So I called, and the woman I talked to, whom I recognized from my last call, was befuddled and told me I did not have an appointment, nothing in the system. I said, "Is there someone I could talk to about my CPAP, though?" She gave me a different number and told me to ask for a respiratory therapist.

I called that number, requested the RT, and was connected to Taylor, whose voice I also recognized from previous calls. Wisconsin really is small, I guess. She said, "Oh, I'm SO GLAD you called - I'm supposed to call you, but I haven't been able to make calls from my computer this morning! I'm truly sorry!" I said, "I'm just glad I'm not imagining appointments and confirmation messages - it was making me question my sanity!" We had a good chuckle. Then I got to ask her all of my questions. She was very sweet. She insisted on apologizing one more time before we hung up, because we're in the midwest.

Then about an hour later, the woman from the earlier call, who is like a friend to me now, called to make sure I got my questions answered! I explained what happened with Taylor and her computer and assured her, "It's all good now! And thank you so much for calling back!" Then we wished each other a great day, because we're in the midwest.

Also right now it's not super dark outside, for the first time in several days.

No way was I going another night without answers to my questions! Looking these things up online just gave me anxiety. Thank goodness Taylor was there for me.

Continuing the theme of One Song to the Tune of Another, try this link:

All the episodes used to be available for free on Fourble but I notice they have vanished.

That song, Relax, has been used many times on the show. Always funny.

Another person on that episode was Joel Lycett. He used to have a tv show in which he caught out corporations and governments doing bad things and he embarrassed them into correcting their behavior.

ps... edited to say I just noticed I wrote the reply out of order; sorry to be confusing.

Daughter and family are here for the holidays. Yesterday the more introverted twin had just had ENOUGH and was having serial meltdowns, putting a big family outing in jeopardy. We had tickets for the Illuminations light show at the Basilica, but it was getting more and more complicated with a group so large that it would require maneuvering TWO vehicles through the ongoing blizzard and parking them and getting the family through what sounded like draconian security proceedings ("arrive 45 minutes in advance...") So I volunteered to stay home with the exhausted 6-year-old, which simplified the expedition enough that everyone else had a great time. But as it turned out, so did we!

The light show sounded cool (and apparently it was) but I wasn't looking forward to any of the rest of it either. And once the pressure of more excitement was off, little H was delighted to get a whole grownup to himself for 2 or 3 hours, and the pouting and tantrums immediately disappeared. We played video games and a boisterous card game (Moose Match Mayhem or something like that). I read him a chapter or two of "The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet" and he agreed that the problem with the Wise Men of Basidium-X was that they didn't do enough science experiments. We made a mango caramel smoothie that he pronounced "the best thing I EVER tasted!" It was clearly the best decision for everybody, and turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the visit so far.

There's not really a story to it but we successfully visited my 96-year-old grandfather-in-law, who is really doing well for 96 and was thrilled to see us. So that's my happy thought.

Granddaughter is doing well and appears to be enjoying the stuffed toy I made for her.

Recently we discovered a walk-through holiday display, Lights on the Prairie. It's about half a mile through evergreens with beautiful light displays. At the end, there's a pavilion with several firepits on the patio, or you can sit inside where there is hot chocolate and cookies. It was adorable and we loved it. I took pictures.
