Ostara and Monday Class Prep
Mar. 20th, 2023 02:15 pm But first, a cute picture of our cats:

Image: Two cats, one of them extremely sneaky and well camouflaged. Can you find Willow? (Hint: bags are as much cat traps as boxes.)
Second, happy Ostara for those who celebrate it! For the rest of you, hey, guess what? For some people in the world today is a day of equal sunshine, equal night, the Spring Equinox! Cool, huh? For those of us in the northern hemisphere, days will be getting longer (in terms of sunlight hours), for those of you in the southern hemisphere, days are getting shorter after today. Whoo.
My family celebrates the coming of MOAR SUN today with a big brunch. Shawn took the day off work. Mason is home for Spring break. So, the family spend the last several days prepping a bunch of fun foods for a fancy brunch:

Our fancy table. Some of the things visible: egg and cress finger sandwiches, lemon cookies, fancy cake, scones, tea, fruit, pierogi, jams, bacon, and lemon bars.

Image: Close-up on the fancy table setting. Ostara bunny clearly came and delivered chocolate eggs.

Image: same table, different angle
Shawn and I were up early this morning putting in finishing touches. We had premade the pierogi, but we needed to bake those. I made the scones fresh, as well as the bacon and cheese sticks. The cake you can see has a whipped cream center, so we did all that fresh this morning too. But, we were very clever to have made much of the rest of it ahead of time, so all we really had to do set the table and eat!
Now, my family is all napping from the sugar crash and I'm prepping for class tonight. I'm sitting in our sunroom, enjoying the bright light. They're both crashed out in the main bedroom. Even the cats have joined in for a nap. It's a quiet, sunny house. If I were the sort, I'd say I feel blessed, but instead I'm going with contented. It's a lovely start to spring.
My fond wishes to you all on this auspicious day, as well!
