Not a Great Day So Far....

A great picture for a kind of terrible day so far. 

It started in Urgent Care. It's two week to the day that I went down hard with that cold. I've been coughing a lot since and yesterday, at a family get together, I would take in a breath when I started to laugh at something, get seized by a wheezing cough and then gulp for air for several seconds before regaining the ablity to breathe. It was really scary.  I was also coughing REALLY hard. 

The doctor at Urgent Care had me take some chest x-rays to rule out pnuomia, of course, and when those came back clear declared that she suspected an upper respitory infection. So, I now have antibiotics which I'll be taking with breakfast and dinner. Fun times! But, as she so subtly said, "Well, with your asthma things can... turn quickly." Yeah, that's not ominous.

And... now, my phone won't turn on. Like at all. My cellphone is just sitting here, no matter how hard or how long I push on the "on" button, it just sits there. I'd been having some trouble earlier, but like it now seems to have gone into complete NOPE. 

So, yeah, I guess it's a Monday all right.

I sure hope you're doing better!

Ugh, I'm very sorry about the health things. At least the air quality is good right now. I am cheering on the antibiotics.

Your phone is just being evil. What a time to decide to give up. (Me, anthropomorphize objects? Nah, I don't think so.)

My phone randomly returned! Am I using this opportunity to quick buy a replacement? Of course not.

The antibiotics do seem to be doing something. Fingers crossed.

Oof sorry about the urgent care visit! I’m also prone to asthma causing secondary infections / other complications every time and it’s super unpleasant — I hope the antibiotics do their job quickly and effectively :)

I probably shouldn't assume that they're working already, but mentally at least I feel like I'm on the right road, you know?

I would never say no to feeling better, even if it’s only placebo effect so far :)

Did they give you just antibiotics or an antibiotic + steroid combo? My asthma doc usually recommends the latter for me since my lungs seem to be…particularly excellent hosts for bacteria and I definitely feel *that* on the first day haha

I was not prescribed any NEW steroids. I'm not sure what's in my evening inhailer so maybe that has steroids in it which is why they didn't? I'll have to check. If I need to, I will go back and inisist.

I am doing a bit better. I was coughing less until literally just now.

yikes! i hope the antibiotics clear things up quickly--that sounds really terrifying.

i have a thing that looks like a cell phone but is now just a chunk of useless plastic, too--they can turn on you as quickly as your lungs can!

Sounds like you've had the kind of experience I had with a summer cold this summer. I got the cold and ended up going into the emergency room because I was coughing so hard that I was coughing up blood. They put me on antibiotics, just in case, but ruled out pneumonia, flu, RSV, and Covid. And yet still I continued trying to turn my lungs inside out with the coughing.

I finally pulled out a not-quite-expired big-ass 30 day steriod inhaler and got it knocked down that way. But ugh, it was awful.

Much sympathy! It's taken me about two months in all to get over my summer cold. Ugh.

Yeah, I am not happy with how long this thing is lingering. And, of course, my stomach is very senstitive already with GERDS so losing the gut flora has been devestating.

No one has specifically prescribed me steriod inhailors, though I already take a big one at night which might have that in it.

Breathing is mission critical. As I wrote today, it's unclear how much (or how little) I'm recovering because one problem has caused several others, but I THINK things are improving??
