I'm technically a couple of days late with this, but Happy New Year to you all.

We rang in the new year much as we often do, quietly. My family and I like to make a big meal--this year is was steak, hash browns, salad, and Brussel sprouts. I worked on the quilt I've been putting together for my GRAND nephew and watched the second season of Critical Role. We managed to stay awake to have faux Champaign and listen to the singular bong of our clock.

We inherited a lovely clock from Shawn's stepmom when she moved into a nursing home, and despite reading all the instructions we could find online, we can NOT get the bongs to match the time. It's always an hour off. This isn't a problem, most of the time, because we just mentally -1 if we are somewhere in the house where we're counting chimes to know the hour. (It's just loud enough that in a quiet house at night, I can figure out what time it is while lying awake in bed.) But, it was a little hilarious to be be waiting for midnight and only getting the singular "DING" of one am.

The other thing that our pagan family has done for decades is a money ritual, where we set a silk wrapped bunch of "silver" (dimes) outside on the evening of the end of the old year, and bring it into our house on the morning of the new. It's meant to symbolize bringing in wealth for the new year. I'm not sure how well it works, but it's a good tradition and we'll probably keep it up forever.

We also try to do a small amount of house cleaning, with a similar idea--that we want to bring in the new year in a clean house.

But, that's about it. Over the weekend, I continued to quilt (I will post pictures when it's done) and we talked to various family members to wish them a Happy New Year and, in the case of my mom, a Happy Birthday as well.

I am only making the barest new year's resolutions--I plan to try to write more regularly, etc. Nothing too dramatic. Should be achievable. I think I am also resolved to "be nicer."

How about you? How is 2022 looking so far?? Making any resolutions.

That sounds lovely.

So far, I made some questionable life choices and spent the day raging at the clusterfuck that is our province and school system. No resolutions—it's the year's turn to prove itself worthy.

Okay, if anything, I do hope to write more, maybe finish a first draft of Book 2. And trying not to engage in online arguments with people on my own side for the sake of drama or gotcha points.

I was going to try to purchase no fabric for a year, and only repair what I have, or modify what I have. I can't go without buying shoes though, and if my work pants wear out, I don't have lots of options. They are still requiring me to wear pants to work. I'm just going to try to use as little fabric as possible.

Absolutely no new "fast fashion," but that's been easily attainable for several years now.

I've now done an image search of "intentional mending" and it's some amazing stuff. I love art that people do for their own enjoyment. :)

Happy New Year! I don't so much do resolutions as have goals and aspirations, but I'm doing Dry January, have started Noom, and I have very clear goals for the types of thing I want to write next, so there's that.
