Thanks to my number one pimp, [personal profile] xochiquetzl, I get to go feed my addiction to Ed Brubaker's Captain America and J. Michael Straczynski's Amazing Spider-Man. Dreamhaven is out of books and they let me trade for comics -- thank God(dess.)  This is especially good timing because I'm also broke (and weirdly fanfic horny.  I think a little Cap and Bucky will be just what the doctor ordered... although I'm also thinking of skipping out of what I should be doing to write a little slash in my own universe.)

I'm going to try to convince Mason that we need to go TODAY, but I have no idea if he'll really be up for it.  We all had a crappy morning (which started with Mason sneaking Skittles for breakfast and a whole storm of time-outs and whatnot... I swear, we were like the "before" on the set of "Super Nanny,") and he's also suffering from a bit of a cold.  I think the weather change got him (and also Shawn).  I, with my constitution of 18 ++, am fine, of course (and yes, I did just unabashedly use a gaming reference.)

Also, I wanted to point all the writers out there over to Wyrdsmiths.  If you haven't been there lately, our very own Kelly McCullough painstakingly went through the archives of the now defunct blog of literary agent "Miss Snark" for the good stuff.  He's collected it in an annotated index here:  http://wyrdsmiths.blogspot.com/2007/09/truly-garagantuan-miss-snark-index-post.html.  If you're at all serious about learning about the business end of writing, this is an awesome resource.

That's funny about the candy for breakfast. Yesterday, when I was at the office, my son asked my husband if he could have cake as a snack to tide him over until the French toast was ready. I thought that was pretty funny, especially coming from this person whose love of sweets seems a little, well, abstract. Funnier: his dad said no, but I probably would have said yes.

Okay, perhaps that was a comment of truly marginal relevance, but my child and I, like your child and partner, have the dreaded lurgy. I'm just happy that my sentences are internally coherent.

have fun scoring the comics.

I've been tempted to ride my bike over to DreamHaven today, but I've been going way over budget on books and graphic novels this month. I want to go over there sometime and dig through the boxes of 25-cent comics and see if I find any treasures.
