I was just over at [livejournal.com profile] jimhines's website reading all his thoughts about book piracy and checking out his cartoons and pie charts, I realized that he must work very hard. I'm lucky most days if I can motivate myself to blog about my fish or remember to post the silly observation Mason and I had the other day about how BIG Clifford the Big Red Dog's "yellow snow" must be...

And, now I see that [livejournal.com profile] matociquala is complaining about how difficult it is to be famous. Hmmmm, I can sympathize with what she has to say, honestly, but, on the flip side, this is _so_ not a problem for me.

Maybe I should stay off the internet today. I seems to be making my eyes greener by the minute.

I have writing to do, anyway.

I have to defend Bear on this one since I asked her to talk about auctorial constructs somewhere I could link them. I don't think it's complaining at all, just talking about a really good way of looking at how your image separates from yourself when you're a public figure.

Gail Carriger & Tate

Down in the comments on Elizabeth's site someone brings up how Gail Carriger consciously creates an authorial character, costumes, etc. for cons, and then trashes the idea as too consciously commercial.

I'm wondering what you think of that notion, given that "Tate" and "Lyda" have different dress and bios, even though you don't make any secret of them both sharing a person.
