Mason's first day of full-day kindergarden was yesterday. Shawn took the day off work to ostensibly spend the day together, but really she worried about Mason the entire day... and we bought a toliet for our downstairs bathroom remodeling project. We did have a very nice, romantic brunch at our favorite breakfast place: Day by Day Cafe.

Mason's day seemed to go very well -- he even ate school lunch, and then sometime around 4 am this morning he threw up... and threw up... and I knew he wasn't going to school today. He seems to have finally recovered, but he has had some additional stomach problems (details spared for the squimish) this morning. But, he's kept down his lunch (chicken soup) and seems to be finally in recovery.

I realize that this makes me the world's most horrible mom, but I'd been looking forward to my first full day of writing for about... oh, forever, and deep in the darkness of the night my first, selfish thought was, "Oh no!" (Shawn and I have a code word for these times -- "noodle moments" due to a time Shawn was trying to make lasanga and Mason needed to breast feed.) However, I quickly comforted myself with the fact that Mason will be in school all year round. My days of freedom are still coming.

And Mason is doing okay.

Mouse, Jibril and Page got a mention over here: Complete List of Muslim Characters. Whoot!

On a related note, Mason really, really wants to celebrate Ramadan.

You could take him to the MoA for Eid. Apparently that's become The Thing To Do On Eid if you're Muslim (or at least Somali) and live in the metro.
