A Day at the Beach
Aug. 12th, 2009 10:05 amMason and I had a great time yesterday at the beach, even though today is probably going to be hotter. The good news is that it's relatively close (we go to Lake Joesphine), so we can hit the sand any time we need to. If the temperatures really start to climb, I'm going to turn on the air before we go so that at least one room in the house will be tolerable this evening.
I didn't quite tire Mason out yesterday as much as I pooped myself out. Again. Writing at night is still hard for me. I've never quite gotten used to it. I can do it, because I need to... but the brain is less than willing. Sigh.
Not much else new. I read DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER the novel that the TV show was based on. I have to say that the show followed the book pretty well, but as the novel is in first person, Dexter seems a lot more, well, INSANE in the book version. Plus, in the book, he's clearly got a kind of psychic connection with his brother that they (thankfully) didn't overdo in the show. If I were going to grade the book and the TV show it would be: book "B", show "A." If only because Dexter is more likable in the show, which actually makes the premise (a serial killer with a heart of gold) more believable and morally squishy (which I like.)
Not much else new around here. You?
