Some Self-Promotion Shamelessness
Jun. 24th, 2008 01:44 pmAfter WritersareReader.com's author Terry Spear reviewed Tate's book Romancing the Dead, the nice folks there offered me a gig reviewing books for them. Since I absolutely adore (or ish that a-"whore"?) anything to do with FREE books, I said yes. My first reivew for them is up! I reviewed Dan Waddell's The Blood Detective. Check it out!
Also, it occurs to me that I'm going to be reading tomorrow night as part of the Twin Cities GLBT Pride Celebration and I should probably tell people about it.
When: Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 7:00 p.m
Where: Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55401
Who: A whole bunch of awesome queer/trans/gay/lesbian writers, including me. The reading is sponsored by the Intermedia Arts Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender (GLBT) Reading Series
hosted by curators Andrea Jenkins and John Medeiros.
Event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 612-871-4444.
Yeah, this appears to be my year of the queer in terms of reading gigs. I'm not quite sure why that is (those of you who know me well know that my connection to the GLBT community is tenuous at best. I'm much, much closer to fandom.) Anyway, I guess I somehow got on Intermedia Arts' radar and now I'm in for pennies and pounds, as they say. Not that I'm complaining particularly. I'm sure I should feel all legitamized as a "real" local author, but, frankly, I'm happiest among my own nerdy kind. I haven't gone out of my way to promote these events because I think they tend to attract a certain crowd and us "sci-fi" folks don't usually mix well with the literary types.
