Was the movie any good? All the Appleseed movies I've seen so far were horrible. I keep hoping they'll get one right. (The manga, on the other hand, are pretty much all great.)
Oh, jiawen, in the movie... way HOT. It's all about the way he MOVES.
As for whether or not the movie was any good, I have no idea. I mean, *I* liked it, but I'm not familiar at all with the manga (do you have??? I'd love to borrow! Or at least look over your shoulder at a few!) This one -- love him or hate him -- was directed by John Woo, who I happen to love in that cheesy-over-the-top-rain-of-spent-casings kind of way, so that helped my enjoyment of APPLESEED EX MACHINA a great deal. So... there's other Appleseed movies?
Yep, you can borrow the manga any time you want. I think I'm missing one of the collected graphic novels, though. Have you seen Ghost in the Shell? It's by the same guy, Masamune Shirow.
There have been at least two previous Appleseed movies that I know of, and they both sucked, unfortunately. The first one was standard cel animation, the second was CGI. I don't remember what I didn't like about them, just that they were unwatchable after the first half-hour, they were so badly-written.
But if there's good John Woo coolness, it may be worth checking out.
I loved GHOST IN THE SHELL, which is why Shawn and I thought we'd give APPLESEED EX MACHINA a try. That plus Woo's directing put it over the top for us.
