I Should Be Writing...
Jan. 8th, 2008 11:07 amBut it's been a long time and I'm at the coffee house. (BTW, we're finally breaking down and buying our own wireless. I'm not sure exactly when it will be, but I can't take waiting until I'm at the coffeeshop in order to bite chumps on Facebook.)
In fish news, my mating pair of bettas seem to be too pooped (or too heart broken) to go again, although I think that this morning Johnny was starting up a new nest. Also, and this is a bit morbid, but thanks to the, shall we say, ditrius from all of these attempts, we have a needle/trumpet snail explosion in the substrate right below the usual nesting grounds. The shrimp has been seen hanging out there as well (although he seems to have finally been eaten, as well.)
Mason is back at school. Apparently, yesterday when all the kids were telling what they did over break, Mason announced to everyone that he "watched TV." I'd feel bad about that, but he followed up with "Blue Planet, Oceans of Life." He's also been quite addicted to the Muppet Show, and has been asking us to sing Kermit's line, "To introduce our guest star/ that's what I'm here to do/ So it really makes me happy/ to introdue to you..." and then yell out, "Mason Rounds!" at which point he comes running down the stairs and makes a ta-da gesture.
The other BIG hit from Christmas is the gear puzzle my folks bought. I've finally figured out how to invent my own, and so now Mason will say, "Let's build a new puzzle," and he'll play with me for about five minutes and then wander off to read or something while I sit there for the next half hour constructing something. Last night I almost burned dinner because I was so involved building puzzles. What? It's addictive, right Sean?
Captain America is back in the house. I worked out yesterday, and now that my memberhsip is upgraded I'm hoping to go three times a week.
Also, I'm going to have to come up with a writing schedule. Not that I can say anything about this yet, but let's just say I may have a LOT of writing that needs to get done this year.

Date: 2008-01-08 05:25 pm (UTC)His favorite character is Cookie Monster, I think. He conned me into making oatmeal cookies based on the idea that they were Cookie Monster's second favorite-- and then didn't like them. (Well, he usually doesn't like cookies--he just wanted to be like cookie monster!) They were excellent cookies, though.

Date: 2008-01-08 08:12 pm (UTC)Do we get a hint? First syllable, sounds like...?
I need to find a Captain America-esque figure to strive for, so I can get myself working out again. But all my comic heroes are pasty skinny dudes. (I don't read a lot of superhero comics.)

Date: 2008-01-08 09:49 pm (UTC)And don't feel bad about Mason's answer at all. I work in a school and most of them will say "I watched TV" even if they had done a thousand really cool things during break. But when you ask what they watched, it's usually "South Park."
How do you like my new icon? It's Freddie Mercury's toe from his statue in Montreaux. Tomorrow, sob, is my last full day in Switzerland.
