Beneath the Sloshing Boot

Brendelfort, Kingdom of Shira

Dearest Ave,

I must say that my attraction to the Queen Below and her schemes continues to diminish. 

In every chamber we uncover, we discover more and more of these hideous egg sacks. They are pale and slimy. Dozens stand upright in rows and connected to each other and the ceiling with mucousy strands. Inside, we have discovered many of the disappeared people.  Fortunately, we were able to recover at least three people known to us, including Grigor’s friend, Franco. One of them, a woman--Audrey Someone, if I recall correctly--was partially transformed.  We were able to bring her to the priest at the temple of Lir who fully restored her to her former self. 

Having had to retreat to cure Audrey and get the other egg-sack victims to warmth and safety, we have returned to the Sloshing Boot. I am currently sitting with Papa Bernard, who has curled around himself three times before settling, at the cellar’s door. Having completed my meditation for the night, I am left alone with my thoughts. As I sit in this dank and shadowy basement, I can hear normalcy returning to the tavern above. The guards allowed the cooks and cleaning staff to return and so smells of biscuits baking and bacon cooking waft down the stairs, along with snatches of their gossip and chatter. 

These homey sensations remind me of what I’m fighting for.

It galls me to think that the good people of Brendelford were stolen right beneath our noses as we sat at the bar above, making easy companionable chatter with Aiyu and Riccardus, the villains of this piece. For villains they must be, Ave, as there is no cause righteous enough to excuse what is being done here. I know that the Fey are fickle and oft times malicious, but this… this is something truly corrupt and infernal. I can not call those who condone such wickedness kin to me.

Even if in our veins flows the same blood.

Am I? The bonus of having been out of the world of 5e is that I have no idea. My DM is using a module for some of this, so, possibly. Yes??

Maybe? Reading your words with no other context makes me think of Lloth. But that doesn't make it so.
