On the Road Again....

So, we are currently just past Chicago, just at the tip of Indiana. Today we're going to try to get as far as Pennsylvania, but we left a day early (Mason's move out day is the 13th) so that we don't have to kill ourselves to make distance every day. I know there are some drivers out there, possibly even you, who could make this trip in the actual 19 hours. We can not. First of all, we are two old ladies who need to pee every 30 minutes/miles, and, secondly, Shawn is a timid driver on the highway, so this is all me.
This is of course just the first leg. Once we pick up Mason we have plans to explore Connecticut a bit before making this arduous trip BACK.
Some day, but not this time because Shawn and I did not pack our passports. we will do this drive through Canada. Maybe we could even stop and wave at our Toronto friends!

Date: 2022-05-11 05:48 pm (UTC)I blame my parents, who used to drive me around in the car to put me to sleep when I was a screaming, colicky baby. Apparently it worked then, and it still works.

Date: 2022-05-11 10:35 pm (UTC)I actually enjoy driving? We do a lot of road trips as a family and we planned this one for fun. Mason doesn't drive yet. We are planning on learning this summer, but as it stands I am the only driver on the way back too! BUT, as I said, our family once did 10 days in a car together and had a blast going from St. Paul to Yellowstone (via a family reunion for Shawn in North Dakota.) I drove that entire time, as well.
