The Ugly Christmas Quilt

You've heard of the "ugly Christmas sweater," so are you ready for the ugly Christmas quilt?

Image: Ugly Christmas fabrics mitigated slightly by bright red and green half-starbursts
These pieces aren't all sewn together yet, but, on Sunday, I got kind of excited by a pattern I found in a "Fat Quarter" magazine. They, of course, wanted me to use a more specific color guide to make the half-starbursts pop more, but I don't really care since the whole point of this quilt is to be ugly, much like an ugly Christmas sweater. I have a friend, Kristy E., who celebrates Christmas (so few of my friends do, interestingly enough) and so she will get to have this whenever the hell it is finished.
I am, of course, starting at several quilts that are pieced, but not yet "quilted." I can tell you which part of this process is my favorite. :-)
