I've foolishly agreed to take part in the Wedge Coop's "Eat Local Challenge," and have posted my first blog about it.  Aptly, it's called The Lazy Activist.

Hmmm, interesting. They chose a good month for this challenge; for a good portion of the year, eating locally in Minnesota would mean no fresh fruit.

FYI, the farm stand in the convenience store parking lot near my house sells a lot of locally grown stuff -- corn, blueberries, strawberries, melons. That does require crossing the river but only by a few blocks. It's at 46th St (you know, what we call Ford Parkway over on this side of the river) and Minnehaha Ave.
