I'll be posting from lovely ValParaiso, Indiana for the next week.  The good news is that the in-laws have WiFi, so I'm currently sitting out on the deck enjoying the breeze and typing to you.  Cool, huh?

Also, I just got word from my agent that the British aren't going for DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS for a title for Tate's book three, either.  So, once again I need to figure a title for book three.  This is an on-going problem for Her as all the good DEAD titles have been taken by the much more popular vampire writers like Charaline Harris and MaryJanice Davidson.  Plus, I've given myself the added constraint of having the titles be ways of describing various states of hotness, ala DEAD SEXY and TALL, DARK & DEAD.  I've wanted to leave the dead thing behind, and have suggested titles like DAMNED HOT and BLOODY CHARMING, both of which I think are fine, but they've fallen on deaf ears in the marketing department.  Any ideas?

Otherwise, I'm planning on spending my time here working on the EMILY poposal and another urban fantasy one.  At some point, too, I suspect my agent will want a proposal for the next Tate book as well.

I tried to stir up some excitment on what_the_frak, but I had to go away for a few days and I think my lack of response may have ended any chance for a good conversation.  Plus, I wonder, too, since most of the people on the list are radical leftists, there's probably not a lot of new things to say or that will cause much excitement/argument.

good enough to die (as opposed to good enough to eat)
to die for
dying to have it
could you just die? (okay, that's a stretch and usually about food, not looks)
hot as hell (will probably be ignored for same issues as damned hot?)

this is hard!

so..how about "Dead and Damned Hot"

"Deadly Dramatic"

"Deadly Poised"

"The Picture of Death"

Just throwing stuff out there. Thought something might hit you as so bad you would come up with something so much better.
*giggle*

Uhhh...

Wined, Dined, and Dead

Dead Knight (as opposed to White Knight) or Dead in Shining Armor

Dead Dreamy

The Young and the Dead

Dead and Does Dishes

Why didn't they like Bloody Charming? I liked Bloody Charming!

Hey, I really appreciate your attempts to stir up conversation over on [livejournal.com profile] what_the_frak. I and my co-moderator have been rather lax in that department-- she's finishing graduate school, and I'm planning a little convention called ThinkGalacticon (http://www.thinkgalactic.org)-- several of the other posters are involved in that too. But I'll see if I can find some time to post...

Is "Too Hot To Live, Too Cool To Die" taken?

Does anyone get married in book 3? If so, you could always use DAMNED IF I DO.

Good luck,

The Plaid Adder

I have been crazy busy lately but have noted your what_the_frak post for later reading and responding. Just to let you know we're not ignorin' you. :-)

Will also try to think of titles for you.

Biting Wit
Hot as Sin (or Sinful [insert synonym for hotness/beauty])
Bloody Gorgeous (to combine two of your proposed titles)

I've been thinking about this all day, and the only thing I've come up with that hasn't already been suggested is The Face that Launched a Thousand Assassination Attempts.

Dead Hard
Dead Quick
Quick and Dead
Quick/Dead (with the slash being integral)
Dead Love
Dead Lovely
Dead Dreams
Dead Boned (not really serious about that, but it made me laugh. maybe s/b _Boned Dead_)
Dead Again
Dead Touch
Dead Lust
Argue with your editor that you want to insert a comma, and make _Drop-Dead, Gorgeous_ an imperative instead of a descriptive title.
Dead To Me
Dead to the World
Dead and Alone
Left for Dead (My favorite so far)
Dead Man's Hand

Bloody Charming is a freaking amazing title. What's not to like?

I also like the last (anonymous) poster's suggestion of Drop Dead, Gorgeous. And Damned If I Do, even if it doesn't have "Dead" in it.

Yeah, "Dead" does seem to be the theme. I like the "Bloody" thing though, especially for vampire chick-lit. So many options.

Marketers are dumb.
