Ode to Joy: Two Shrimp!
Feb. 22nd, 2007 01:25 pmYes, Lyda is back to yakking on about her damn fish tank, but I’m just so happy I have to share! Today I spotted two shrimp in the downstairs tank. I often think that our shrimp (Jacques) has been eaten because he’s so damned hard to spot, being, well… transparent. So, under this illusion I brought home a second ghost/glass shrimp who was named “Thud” because he spend a half a minute on the floor after leaping out of the fish net when I tried to get him into the tank. Damn that amazing camouflage! (And damn how much shrimp look like bugs... I actually had a lot of “ooh, ick” and shrieking like a grrl moments trying to scoop him back up.)
Needless to say, I started to think that those moments on the floor had damaged Thud’s ability to survive in the tank and given that goldfish eat shrimp, I wrote him off as a goner. I kept spotting a shrimp in our tank, but depending on my mood I tended to decide that it was either Jacque or Thud singularly.
Today I saw them both!
