From my clipping service, aka naomikritzer, I give you "Hereville: How Mirka Got Her Sword", a graphic novel based on a web comic of the same name about an Orthodox Jewish girl who has high fantasy-esque adventures. And, in a similar vein, "Bad Hebrew Tattoos". Ever wonder if that tattoo artist really wrote "Peace" in Chinese on your upper chest or something more like "stupid white girl"? Well, here are some real-life examples of people chosing (or mangling) Hebrew permanently on their skin.

Not quite sure if when the rabbis forbade tattoos they did it because one can look like a complete idiot, but that seems to be an underlying reason.

Hereville was pretty good, though it sometimes felt like it was two books interleaved together: a fun story about a girl and her sword, plus "here is how the Jews live". I really liked the story about the girl & her sword; the rest of it was odd, but that could just be me (an adult who's not Jewish but who knows a little about the modern practice of Judaism).
