I have been fairly terrible about joining in with the reading Wednesday thing, but this time I have actually been reading a few interesting manga.
Oiran Chirashi was my experimental foray into straight people's porny manga and, yeah, I dunno. I mean, the story was nice? But, speaking of se workers, if follows a girls who randomly falls back in time to the Edo period's state sanctioned red light district, the Yoshiwara District.
We are Contactees is another one, like Gay Fuuzoku no Mochigi-san..., where I wished more of it had been translated by the pirates because the story was just getting interesting when it stopped. That one is an odd story about a burned out office lady who runs into an old childhood friend who is building a rocket in his spare time. He has no plans to go to space himself, but because he and the office lady were visited by aliens (just lights in the sky, no abduction stuff) in the middle of filming his indy film during high school, he wants to send the finished project into space. It's one of those "and then everyone gets wrapped up in the weirdly wholesome crazy dream" stories? But, I really enjoyed what I was able to read of it.
Mazu wa Hitokuchi is a boys' love story where the conceit is that the secret the boys share (besides their crush on each other) is that the pigs that one of them raises ACTUALLY FLY. It's very, very weird? But kind of cute.
The last one on the list is just a medical drama that takes place in a maternity ward. I should NOT have been able to read this one, given my personal history, but it was well-written and most of the time things worked out for baby and mother.
If you are curious where to find any of these, I will direct you to my manga blog: MangaKast (so called because it was once going to be a podcast and maybe it will be again, some day.)
Otherwise, I have been spending my days prepping for class.
How about you? Reading anything good?
