As much as folks complain about country music, Nashville is about the only place for songwriters to get a "day job" by writing in music row for the publishers. Of course, the sucky thing is that they just crank'em out based on what's hot, so there isn't a lot of creative freedom, and the newer writers don't get much, if any, royalties, because it's work-for-hire.
