No, I did not find a date to the parade, but...

My father just wrote to tell me this cool bit of family (potential) history:

"I just read your blog. I must have told you the Morehouse/Irish story. Here it is. In 1999, when we were at Oxford for a conference (Living in college no less), I met 4 elementary teachers from Dublin. They attended my paper, and we were talking afterwards. Two of them started talking to each other and I overheard one saying, "Should we tell him?" They then told me that were was an Irish family at their school named Morehouse (same spelling), BUT they were 'traveling people' - gypsies. So we may have some Irish ancestery on the traveler's side of the family tree. I think this is more likely than the part of our genealogy that traces the family name back to the early settlers in New York and New England."

So maybe I AM a bit Irish, after all.

You have to realize that only a teeny-tiny number of your ancestors were named "Morehouse" anyway. Despite "Jackson" it is well documented that I have ancestors from County Cork in Ireland. If you have Travellers in your ancestry, I'm sure my ancestors ran your ancestors out of town at some point in the past.

Did you ever see this:
