Date: 2025-02-28 05:33 am (UTC)No, that's what taxes are supposed to be for and people are told they are for. But it is often not how taxes are used, and indeed, it is not possible for the current tax structure to do what people are told it is doing. People are noticing that they are not actually getting the things they have been promised: health care is minimally available, roads and bridges are collapsing, government services and safety nets are being slashed. So do you give the propaganda answer? Or do you explain that people are simply being robbed by a more powerful entity so rich people can pocket the money and walk away with it?
Here is an example of how the current tax structure cannot deliver on its promises. It is not the only example but it is typical of the bad math and outright chicanery in the tax system.
America is deeply invested in making sure people don't know this or talk about it, because obviously, when people realize how badly the government has screwed them, mayhem will almost certainly erupt.
