Not much to report today. I'm feeling sleepy, despite having fallen asleep last night in Mason's room at _his_ bedtime of 7:00 pm. Shawn managed to wake me up long enough for me to stumble off into our bedroom were I collapsed. Down for the count until this morning.

Mrs. R. chastized me for helping Mason too much in the mornings at school. It's true that those of us parents who drop-off often find ourselves putting on shoes and helping tuck things into cubbies. She's right that Mason should do those things on his own. All the kids who take the bus in the morning have to do it.

*sigh* I'm such a helicopter parent.

Johnny still seems a bit sad. His heater wasn't working properly after I added the new sponge filter, but now it seems to be working again. Hopefully that will solve his problem, or I'll just have to break down and buy him a girlfriend.

As I told Kelly McCullough on the phone a few minutes ago, I've been fairly uninspired writing the latest Tate novel. What's strange is that I think it's a better book than the previous one, and I'm not really struggling with the plot or anything. I'm just not feeling fired up about writing, generally. I've been really at a loss to come up with good writing-related blogs for Wyrdsmiths (and I've been grateful that I'm not signed up to post anything on SF Novelists until Solstice.) Heck, I have a stack of readers' proofs that I need to look over for Penguin USA of Romancing the Dead, and I haven't even gotten excited to do that. What up, I wonder?

Speaking of Soltace, thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] naomikritzer for recommending we check out the Soltace celebration that's coming up at the Three Rivers Park District in Plymouth, MN. They're planning a sunset bonfire and I just signed Shawn, Mason and me up.

And now it is time for me to fetch the small wonder from school.
