Wow. This was... well, too much to absorb right away, but I'm sure it will be really helpful at some point. I would like to do more recording of stuff, but one of my biggest limitations right now is where to put it. MP3 files are big and my server space is small. And, my technology low (and low budget. I suspect a lot of the problems you describe could be solved by actually having a better microphone as well.)
