You didn't hear from me for a week because I had a very full dance card.
  • Sunday: My friends [personal profile] offcntr and his wife, Denise, came in to town from Eugene, OR
  • Monday: the youngest of the the Jackson clan and his SO stayed overnight with us on their way back to Portland, OR
  • Tuesday: hung out with [personal profile] naomikritzer
  • Wednesday: worked at White Bear Lake
  • Thursday: saw [personal profile] jiawen and Naomi again, before jiawen heads back to Taiwan and then went out to anime night
  • Friday: met up with [personal profile] pegkerr  Naomi, and Eleanor for our usual get together.
i am an extrovert, but even for me, this was a lot of running around, especially since somewhere in there I also did a big grocery run to Hyvee and made four quiche. We also got a bunch of Mason's PSEO stuff squared away. Alas, he did not get into the University of Minnesota's PSEO program, so we had to do a bit of scrambling, but we got him all registered for St. Paul College's PSEO.

Whew.

On Saturday, we cleaned out the garage because St. Paul was having its big 'all you can dump" deal over at the Fairgrounds, where you pay $10 to get rid of all the things you usually can't--scrap metal, cellphones, stuff you need to shred, lumber waste, big appliances, etc.  We sat a line of cars forever, but it was decent weather and we listened to the beginning of the "Balance" arc of The Adventure Zone. Mason has me hooked on "Amnesty" already.)

I think I spent Sunday just trying to catch my breath, I swear.

This week Mason is, as he likes to call it, "paying his dues" as an employee of the Science Museum. He's going to be one of the youth paid assistants at "Wizard School" camp all week. It should be... chaotic? I think he's looking forward to the paycheck, if you know what I mean. But, at least it doesn't start until 12:30 pm, so he gets to catch up on his sleep now that school is out for the summer.

For myself, I need to get back to Unjust Cause (my deadline is November 1.) Meanwhile, my short story "Only Gossamer, My Gown" should be coming out in Boundary Shock Quarterly any day now. I've seen the cover art, and its gorgeous! I will do more jumping around about it, once there's a link to something you can buy.

But, I've been spending my washing dishes time staying current with Midnight Occult Civil Servants and, while waiting for the next episode of that to air, watching Free! Season 3 (which somehow I missed when it came out).

I guess that's all I know? I will try to post more regularly (and more coherently) now that things have calmed down.
