Here's my uneducated take on the writing process: beginnings f**king SUCK.

I wrote last night (yes, and I *did* sleep better, thanks for asking,) and what I ended up doing was restarting the prequel for the third time. Gah. The good news is that, beyond sleeping really well, I also think this one may be the keeper. Or it's at least a hell of a lot closer than the others have been.

Thing is, I've completely forgotten how to write science fiction in general, and this series in specific. Also, there's a bit of a secret about one of the two main characters that really isn't meant to be a surprise (merely a secret, if that makes sense,) and I realized that in none of my previous drafts did I even allude to it in any meaningful way.

Also, the tone of the AngeLINK series is very different than what I've been writing recently, and I'm having a really difficult time recapturing that. I think, honestly, my mistake was rereading _Archangel Protocol_, which is actually a very different book than those that follow. In that vein I've been rereading my slash (because THAT makes sense) and started _Fallen Host_.

Okay, enough whining. I'm off now to go work out for a little bit before I have to pick up wee boy, and then tonight.... MORE WRITING!

Oh, and in news of the weird, Bob [2] died unexpectantly last night. I came downstairs to turn off the lights on the tanks, and there he was stuck to the filter. He'd been acting funny a few days ago -- sitting on the bottom (not good!), but I honestly thought he'd given himself a bit of constipation/tummy ache because I'd recently put in a bunch of java fern which I'd gotten from my vet (long story). Anyway, a whole boatload of snails hatched out of the ferns, and he ate nearly all of them. I changed his water a bunch when he was sitting on the bottom, and he started perking up right away. He also started pooping a thin, whitish string (usually a sign that he *was* consipated), and I thought, "Oh good, all better." I guess not so much.

"Gucci, gucci, Bob. You were a good fish."
