lydamorehouse: (shark)

I haven't said much about the fish in a while, so you're due.  (Yes, I'm inflicting FISH on you.)

Mason and I went out on Crappy Day to buy new fish for the thirty gallon tank to continue the "conditioning" processing.  Mason was taken with a very gorgeous oranda (fancy goldfish) and a shubukin (less fancy goldfish).  We brought them home along with three live ghost/glass shrimp.  Mason, perhaps inadvisably, decided to name the two fish "Bob" and "Frieda" (the names of our first fist tragedies.)  Frieda made it overnight.

Conditioning is hard on the fancy ones.  She started doing the "bladder disease" floating loopily around the tank almost right away.  I knew there wasn't going to be much for her.  We had lots of bubbles for oxygen and all the readings for the various bad stuffs were normal, so I guess Frieda was just the sacrifice for the conditioning of the tank.  gucci, gucci.  You were a good fish.

Bob is still doing well, however.

The ghost/glass shrimp got eaten almost right away.  Joe and Fergus needed the protein, I guess.

Shawn managed to find some broken cityscape stuff by going to a gaming (as in role playing) site.  She even found a broken down St. Peter's bascillica (as in the Vatican) which we're totally going to buy.  This thing looks like a nuclear bomb hit it, which made Shawn and I try to figure out who, exactly, is the audience for the destroyed St. Peter's... disgrunteled Catholics? And, people like me who are just plain blasmephmous?

In another couple of weeks we'll switch the boys.  The big guys will go to the 30 gallon and the little guy will go into the 10. Wish us luck.
