lydamorehouse: (TDD)
Last night around 11:00 pm, I typed "THE END" on Tate's third book. It's not actually finished as such things go, but it's done. I have a lot of revision to do on this one because, for whatever reason, apparently I no longer remember how to write a novel (Sean M. Murphy tells me that he's read that other authors have talked about stumbling over number seven -- maybe this is a kind of literary "seven year itch.") Anyway, the point is, I finished the bones of the thing. I'm done for the moment.

Next, I'm going to let my volunteers read the whole damn thing and give me some ideas how to start fixing it. Then, no doubt, I'm going to be crazy-busy with those revisions until the very last hour before my (HER) May 1 deadline.

In a couple of minutes Mason and I are leaving for the Minnesota Opera. I read in the Star Tribune about a group called "Mom Culture" that does events for stay-at-home parents that are supposed to stimulate the parent as well as the child. I signed Mason and I up for this particular one because of Mason's recent interest in classical music, because, honestly, opera isn't normally my scene. I actually do listen to it. I own a few CDs of sort of the "opera pops," but I normally don't think of myself as smart enough for opera. Anyway, if Mason likes it, the next event is a jazz ensemble, and I know he'll like seeing the instruments if nothing else.

However, I have to dash as the event coordinator notes that I have to bring a long lunch for Mason.... and, of course, we have nothing in the house.
