Death of a Tetra and Other Stuff
Feb. 5th, 2007 02:55 pmFirst off, for those of you who are keeping me accountable, we lost another tetra (Tetra10) yesterday. And, yes, it was my fault. He was looking kind of spotty and floating near the top so I decided a blast of the old fungicide might help. I put in a double dose. I just wasn’t thinking. Of course, this knocked him right out, and then I had to spent then next few frantic moments siphoning twenty-five percent of the tank water out so as to not have any more tragedies.
In other news, IROSF bought the Elizabeth Bear interview, which will be coming out in March. They are going to do a little tightening of it (I always send a transcript, basically), but they seemed pretty happy with the discourse generally. Hooray.
I got flowers from HER British publisher since today is the official street-date for Tall, Dark & Dead over the pond. I can’t even cope with how nicely they’re treating me. I only hope to GOD that the book does well so I’m worth all this attention.
HER publisher also sold bookclub rights for Dead Sexy. According to Anne, my editor, the book will be available through Rhapsody (Romance), Doubleday, and Science Fiction book clubs. This is great news if only because this particular contract is carrying no other books, so the likelihood of it also earning out just got that much closer (because what they do is, since this is kind of a publisher-to-publisher deal, my publisher “credits” my account with money from the sale. So, I’m suddenly a couple of thousand dollars less in the hole for my advance against sales). Anyway, fingers crossed.
I also got a call from Don at Uncle Hugo’s to schedule a signing for HER in May (details as the day approaches). SHE has a lot of up-coming May gigs, including guest blogging at a romance site, which is nice for some.
