On Being Pursued

Usually when I’m knee-deep in a novel under deadline, like I am now, story ideas start popping into my head. I think, like some kind of back-alley lover, they know that now is the time to strike because there’s no way I can get serious about them, and really, all they want is a heavy flirt, anyway.

And, of course, at the same time ideas for the NEXT novel start hitting on me, too.

What’s up with that?

Go away you nasty, illicit ideas! I’m trying to be faithful to the one I’m writing.
