The Dreaded Fruit Cake
Okay, so I've eaten some weird things for this blog-- natto and Marmite-- but now I'm going to try possibly one of the strangest foods in all of creation: fruit cake.

It looks innocent enough. However, it's very, very dense and there are candied 'so-called' fruits embedded in it.

As you can see, I'm highly unsure about this experience. The texture could best be described as gooey. The flavoring was strangely overwhelmingly... clove? Not a favorite of mine on its own. Yes with nutmeg and cinnamon and the other pumpkin pie spices.
My overall impression:

In the infamous words of "Tard, the Grumpy Cat": NOPE.

Where did you get it/the recipe? The spices shouldn't really be that strong, just background and warming, not overpowering. The texture should definitely be moist, possibly erring towards gooey, but not too claggy. The fruit is candied, to preserve it, like the stuff in mincemeat, but without the extra syrup to make it really wet. It's a staple at xmas over here, being basically what our Christmas cakes are. What are yours made of if not fruit cake? *is confuzzled*
Also, just a useless little factoid, rich fruit cake is sometimes eaten with Wensleydale cheese in some parts of the country, and absolutely yummy it is too.
