I LOVE digital cons. If they are done well, which WisCON has been and mostly was this time, (since they were hybrid they had some technical issues, which I didn't bring up because the panels I went to were all fine) it can be exactly as good as going in-person, IMHO. Better, even? Like one of the things I love about online cons is that they can be international with a bit of effort. Like, my friend Rachel is in Taiwan, and I would not minimize this as an effort, but she CAN attend, if she can get up early enough in the morning.

So, like, that is awesome.

Also I feel like there is a lot more exchange of ideas because most online cons do a thing where you might watch on YouTube or Zoom, but there is an alternate chat, like a Discord, where everyone just drops thoughts into chat? It feels like getting to talk out loud at a panel, without being disruptive.

I dunno, plus, if you are tech savvy you can do things like Rachel and I did which is basically be "sitting together" at a panel? BUT ALSO IN YOUR JAMMIES WITH YOUR OWN FOOD AND DRINK? I mean, how great is that?
