You know when people say "what is the book that changed your life," and most people reply with a novel that moved them to tears, etc.? For me, the answer always is BEARD ON BREAD by James Beard. It's the book that made me understand how to make bread. Previous to that, all I could make was what my family called "Lyda's Lead Bread" because it was consistently NOT GOOD and the yeast would die or something would go terribly, terribly wrong.
So, yeah, I think anyone can do it? But read the book. It will change bread making for you forever.
