Oops, I walked away from my photography to do writing. Am I doing this wrong?

(Okay, it was more of an amble. A sidle. I still take side-jobs, but I'm not actively trying to make the photography a profession. That affects equipment, time, and outreach decisions, and sometimes it hurts.)
