Snooping on the instructors' houses is the best. (Part of why, um, I jumped at helping Rich JKN move. The other part is conditioning. Lots of socio-family conditioning.)

They were Roman coins, if I remember correctly. (Should I run into you at Kuk Sool again sometime, I'll have to tell you the story of how I got mailed a Roman coin out of the blue.)

I think the way an author approach blogging/interactions with fans does a lot for their lack of/building of an authorial construct. Your blog, for instance, is really down to earth, and mostly stories about your day and your family's day. It's not your deep philosophical structures or thoughts about whatever. (There's nothing wrong with either, I want to stress.) But the idea of you as a person, just kicking around living life and writing, is a lot more prominent then someone who blogs their fully polished deep thoughts. I'm much more likely to build up a pedestal for someone who I only see through their essays about deep thinkey thoughts. (It's why bandom gets so big, I think.)
Does that make sense? The difference between a person, and an idol.

Also, adult classes are totally fun. :D They start at 8, and go until 9:15 or a bit later. I get home around 9:40, shower and am in bed by 10. And my parents mock me for turning into a pumpkin after 8pm, so I hear you on the bedtime. :)
