Kids are funny. The damnedest things can spook them, for reasons that aren't terribly apparent to the rest of us. It may have been a particular piece of music, or something he heard someone else say and misunderstood. You might try talking to him a little the day before the next lesson. Maybe he'll be more forthcoming then.
