One thing that I really think cemented Harry Potter in the minds of the young people who read the books as they came out is that Harry himself and the intended target audience for the current book aged along with them. I wonder if it would be worth considering buying the books for Mason at about the rate they were published rather than in a quick flurry which might start off well but push him into uncomfortable territory fast.
